Serpentine (‘serpent stone’) probably received its name from its scaly, patchy appearance, which is reminiscent of snake skin. From pre-Roman times until well into the Middle Ages, serpentine was considered to protect against disease and sorcery. ‘Fright stones’ were carved out of this mineral in the shape of ugly-faced amulets that were supposed to drive away ‘frightening things’.
Serpentine helps us to establish boundaries and find inner peace. It is an outstanding meditation stone.
Serpentine balances mood swings, is calming in cases of nervousness and stress and protects from negative energy effects. It helps women who are unable to reach orgasm because of tension!
Serpentine stimulates the urge to solve conflicts in a peaceful way; however, it can sometimes make us too eafer to compromise for the sake of peace.
